migration of db2

3 New Member
Dear All,

Just want to ask a few questions:

1) Is IBM DB2 9.5 Express-C fully compatible with vista home premium. I am getting some errors after installation, using first step. Though its mentioned to be workable with vista.

2) I am getting DB2 UDB error on start-up, is it because of this upgradation !!!!

3) Is IBM DB2 9.5 Express-C compatible with WSD 5.1.1, though both has nothing to do with each other but what if I want to connect them. What type of connection should I use...JDBC.

4) my restore DB command and migrate command is giving errors while the tab spaces were created properly

I have been using DB2 8.2 + fix pack and WSAD 5.1.1 for web development.

Hi saikatbarman,

Vista Home is not supported (see IBM website). Technically it may run, but I guess you've got to do some hacks.

2) I am getting DB2 UDB error on start-up, is it because of this upgradation !!!!
What error? Could you please be more specific?

3) Is IBM DB2 9.5 Express-C compatible with WSD 5.1.1, though both has nothing to do with each other but what if I want to connect them. What type of connection should I use...JDBC.
WSAD or the newer RAD are able to cooperate with DB2 v9.5. There's a file db2java.zip within the DB2 installation. Make sure you add this to your classpath when using JDBC.

4) my restore DB command and migrate command is giving errors while the tab spaces were created properly
Again, error numbers/messages could be helpful.

Regards

Thanx a lot docdiesel

It helped a lot.

Regarding ur last doubts.

1. The error code occurring during log on is : " SQL5005C DB@ UDB error ". The server is unable to start if I log In with Admin account. but it works fine with db2admin

2. when ever I try to migrate using migrate db <DB Name>, it gives error : "SQL1704N DataBase migration failed. Reason code 3. Line no. = 0 "

Hi,

in this case SQL5005C means there's a rights issue. I don't know Vista that much yet, but try to let DB2 autostart as service with the user db2admin. Or add the admin user to the groups which the db2admin is a member of.

SQL1704N with reason code 3 means the transaction logs are full. (You always may have a look for SQLxxxx and reason code Y at the IBM site fur DB2 LUW.) Define more or bigger log files and then retry.

Please let us know if this solves your problems.

Regards

I am using DB2 v8.1 on UNIX. A few weeks ago the DBAs carried out node migration activity on the database. After the node migration I observed that the queries that execute on temporary tables show extreme poor performance. One of the query was partly optimized by declaring a partitioning key on the temporary table. However it still takes...

At work, some people have found IBM's Migration Toolkit (MTK) to be a nice tool for copying data from one table (in another DBMS product) to DB2. Now, they want to do the same thing from one DB2 database to another DB2 database. - But MTK (surprisingly) doesn't seem to support DB2-DB2 copies. These are non-regular, ad-hoc tasks, performed...

I have been researching the best approach to migrating a VB6 application into a VB.NET application. There is a lot of information out there but most of it recommends that you "train in the migration process before jumping into it". Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows.
