Binding db2updv9.bnd failed with sqlcode = -31

James

After I installed FP3 to an exiting DB2 V9 copy on windows 2003(32-
bit), issued db2updv9 to update ER1 database to current version, but
got the following error.

>db2updv9 -d er1

Binding db2updv9.bnd failed with sqlcode = -31
db2updv9 processing failed for database 'er1'.

Please advise.

I would think that you have some sort of installation issue. The message
SQL0031 says this:

SQL0031C File "<name>" could not be opened.

Explanation:

The file "<name>" is required but could not be opened.

Precompilation is terminated.

User Response:

Ensure that the file name specified is correct and exists in the
file system, and that the file permissions are correct.

If installing the sample database, drop it and install the
sample database again. If the error continues, reinstall the
database manager and then install the sample database.
