Urgent :: Problem with Environment variable ??

Hi,

We have a Test Database in Linux with DB2 v8.2.
DB2 was installed in /db2home/db2inst1.

Some one moved the all folder db2inst1 to Trash. I moved it back to
db2home/db2inst1

But now, when i connect through the command prompt and issue db2 it
displays ::

DB21015E The Command Line Processor backend process request queue or
input queue was not created within the timeout period.

When i try to start Control Centre it starts up but when i try to
start the Database Manager it doesnt start up. It displays sql22205 c
error

DB2 Administration Server encountered an unexpected error while
executing a request.

In the terminal it shows
Warning java.io.IOException ; permission denied
java.lang.security.Exception : Could not lockuser prefs.Lock file
access denied ......
.................................................. .................................................. ......................

Has any of the Environment variable settings changed ? How do i make
sure that it is the same.?

My first attempt would involve running db2iupdt against the instance to see
if permission problems get fixed that way. (Most permission problems
inside sqllib get fixed by db2iupdt automatically, but not all.)

Next, if that didn't work, would be to rename sqllib to sqllib.bak, recreate
the instance, and then copy back the db2systm, userprofile/usercshrc, and
node/db directories.

If this is a server instance, you may need to chown -R on the
~db2inst1/db1inst1 directory to ensure everything is owned by
db2inst1.db2iadm1 (assuming your instance is db2inst1 and its primary group
is db2iadm1, replace as appropriate).

I changed t he ownership and the error related to

has gone. I am not able to find the db2iupdt comamnd in Bin

the diag.log shows error related to db2wdog

this error also disaperred when i changed the ownership

Hi Darin,

I changed the ownership to db2inst:db2grp1 from root:root , in the
directories which was moved and the timeout and permission denied
errors vanished.

Next, I killed all the process by ipclean

Finally updated the instance using db2iupdt << I was not able to find
the command as I was looking in the installed DB2 Folder where as this
existed in /opt/IBM/DB2/V8.2/INSTANCE >>

Then the Server started working.
