Dear all,
I would like to signal an inconvenience with the db2imigr, if root's
environment points to a DB2 instance (Aix).
We did a /usr/opt/db2_08_01/db2ckmig .... worked ok saying db(s) can be
migrated.
Then /usr/opt/db2_08_01/db2imigr inst1 ... that did again the db2ckmig ok,
then failed with
"DBI1124E Instance inst1 cannot be migrated."
It took us some hours to understand that root had a DB2 environment pointing
to version 7. It should not, from my point of view, but it's not documented
in the IBM manuals that it should not.
env:
PATH=...:/psoft/inst1/sqllib/bin:/psoft/inst1/sqllib/adm:/psoft/inst1/sqllib
/misc
CLASSPATH=/psoft/inst1/sqllib/function:/psoft/inst1/sqllib/java/db2java.zip:
/psoft/inst1/sqllib/java/runtime.zip:.
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/psoft/inst1/sqllib/lib
LIBPATH=...:/psoft/inst1/sqllib/lib
problem: the explanations with DBI1124E Instance db2inst1 cannot be migrated
are in that case out of scope, I think:
An attempt was made to migrate an instance. This instance cannot be
migrated because:
o The instance is still active. ==> it was not, we had done a db2stop
force, checked process and ipcs.
o Migration of this instance is not supported ==> ??? inst1 was a version
7 instance, so hopefully, it can be migrated, right ?
o This version of the "db2imigr" command cannot be used to migrate this
instance. ==> We used /usr/opt/db2_08_01/db2imigr, so this cause is not
likely to be this one ...
Can't the db2imigr launch a new shell isolated so that potential DB2 related
stuff does not exist and make the db2imigr to fail ?
Regards,
Jean-Marc
