DB2 Connect PE 8.1.4 and MS Access Underscore Problem

Hello,

Using MS Access 97, SR2 mit MDAC 2.7 / 2.8 English/Deutsch we get the
old problem of 'object not found' in DB2 Connect Version 8. ( From MS
KB Q129814: "When you try to attach a DB2 table containing an
underscore (_) or a percent sign (%) in its name, you receive the
following error message". Cause: "The Microsoft Jet database engine
misinterprets the underscore or the percent sign. This causes the Jet
database engine to pass an incorrect table name to the DB2 ODBC
driver".) This was fixed by MS for Access in 1995.

This was not a problem for us with DB2 Connect PE 7 FP6. As is usual
with new versions or fixpacks of DB2 Connect, what was once fixed
becomes a problem anew.

In the past we had used the CLI configuration keyword : UNDERSCORE.
This we seemingly have to use again (=0). With this set, we can use
MS Access, DB2 Connect V8 and DB2 V7 with tables containing an
underscore.

Is there another solution to the problem?
Is IBM working on a solution?

(FYI: according to the IBM CLI Guide and Reference "This keyword is
not supported in DB2 Version 8". This is false (see the still opened
JR19025 which refers, however, only to the incorrect documentation)).

Regards, Christopher Keller
