Has anyone observed an exponential performance decay in
SQLProcedureColumns call running UDB 8.1 client against a UDB 8.1
server?
I am in the process of investigating painfully slow calls to
sysibm.sqlprocedures stored procedure in a trace from an application
that I inherited. Tracing application source, it appears that the code
is invoking SQLProcedureColumns to define the parameters required for
each and every stored procedure execution.
On UDB < 8.1, the time/cost of this call was not measurable. In UDB
8.1, performance seems to degrade exponentially based on the number of
rows in sysibm.sysprocedures and sysibm.sysroutineparms.
Has anyone seen this before? Does SQLProcedureColumns for udb 8.1
indeed call sysibm.sqlprocedures stored procedure? Is there a way to
'tune' this query to run fast?
thanks ....
