one server, two version, instances with different vision-- is this possible

cat
Hi folks,

We are going to update our db2 udb ee from v7.2 to v8.1 ( on aix 5.1
with fixpack 7). The problem is since our server consociation, we have
2 application running on the same server which including 5 db2
instance.

Now we want to update one application ( content manager ) on that
server to new version which means we need to upgrate 2 instances to
db2 v8. At the same time, we will still keep the rest instances on
version 7. Just wondering is that possible to keep two version of db2
in one machine, with instances in different version. Anyone has any
hints and tips.

Thanks for your input

This is possible on AIX. All v7.2 instances will have to be at the same
fixpak level.

I recommend you keep the two v8 instances at the same fixpak level. If
you require them to be at different fixpak levels, you'll need he MFP
(multiple fixpak support) fixpaks on the fixpak website.

7.2 Service ends in September 30, 2004.

You don't need MFP support for the example you give below.
