Hi All,
Out of nowhere my udb system (v8) performance has went terrible. Its gotten
about 10x worse, (some tests that used to take 2 seconds to run now take
20)... I'm not sure what happened. I did reorg/runstat/rebind on
everything, no luck... I'm not sure what to do next...? Any recommendations
on something to try to start narrowing down the possible problem.
Things I've tried:

I am trying to use db2batch from my XP client against a remote

And here's what I am getting:

Running in Embedded Dynamic mode.

Hello,
I am trying to isolate some performance issues.
The database is DB2 v8.1 running on a Win2000 server with 4 processors and
1gb of RAM.
The application is a GIS application that uses ADO to access the database.
It was not written specifically for DB2 and I think almost all queries are
running as dynamic queries. The performance issue arise when users are

Hi all
I while ago I posted a suggestion to the DB2 newsgroup:

Hi,
I have a large table (about 50G) which stores data for over 7 years. I
decided to split this table up into a yearly basis and in order to
allow minimum changes to the applications which access this table, I
created a union all view over the 7 yearly tables.
What I have noticed is that queries against the union all view is
considerably slower than queries against the original table. When I ran
db2batch, I noticed cpu usage was higher...

Because of historical reasons, I have both C# and C++ managed/unmanaged code
mixed together in my class library.
But I prefer to port code to C# since it compiles faster and the syntax is
much more readable so I can do more in less time.
The big question now, will I gain/lose performance, given the fact that I
create pure managed code, if I port the managed C++ classes to C# classes? I
cannot port all the classes at once, too much to...

I was wondering what performance advantages (or ramifications for all I know)
might be apparent if you used Managed C++ (MC++ from know on) instead of C#?
I know C# is a pure .NET language since it was made for the .NET Framework,
but because of my code has been migrated from Java, I need to make a few API
calls outside of the CLR. I'm quite new to C#, cause I'm more familiar with
Java and C++, but I would assume that any programmatic...

1. What work is in progress to bring C# performance closer to C++/CLI? Can we
expect C# to equal C++/CLI performance? If so when?
2. Also what work is in progress to improve MSIL/CLR/JIT performance in
general? As relases to the Framework e.g. 2.1, 2.2,.. are made do these
include performance imporovements?

hello,
I'm having a performance issue with a Windows CLI/ODBC application
that connects to a DB2 rel 7.1 on a mainframe of a bank.
I have to say I'm pretty new with this kind of environment.
The application is working, but it is much slower than when I run
against a DB2 7.1 on a poor Linux machine(using the same amount of
data in the tables used by the application).
I made some trace and I found the most noticeable difference is in the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
