There is something very strange going on here. Tested with ADO 2.7 and MSDE/2000. At first, things look quite sensible. You have a simple SQL query, let's say select * from mytab where col1 = 1234 Now, let's write a simple VB program to do this query back to an MSDE/2000 database on our local machine. Effectively, we'll

Whenever I query my database using Enterprise Manager, the response time is about a second. When I access the same data via a Cold Fusion webpage, it takes about 15 seconds (or more) to resolve. I created an index for the fields involved in the query and updated statistics. It makes no difference. Is there anything else I should look at? The table is only about 3000 records. Any suggestions to speed up queries when using Cold Fusion?...

Doozie of a problem here - may open a ticket with support, but wanted to see what others had to say first... We have an AIX 5.2 server with DB2 V8 FP5 and 32-bit instance. ~45GB db. Reorgs and runstats are done weekly and the server is at least decently tuned, although we're bumping up against the memory limits with 32-bit. There is a series of 16 queries run in varying orders by the users referred to as "mega-measures". Normally these...

I came across a situation that I've been unable to explain and was hoping somebody had an answer: I had written an update query which was taking about 8 seconds to run and considered it too slow. I copied the SQL statement from the query and tried executing it from code which then ran in 1 second. To make sure that I didn't miss anything, I copied the SQL statement back into a query and tried running it again. It now also only took 1...

Hello, I ran a query that I thought would take an hour, but instead took 14 hours to run. The consequence was it bogged down our data warehouse and the overnight build was adversely impacted. Is there a local setting I can set to limit the execution time my query will take? I dont want to have a server setting and impact other queries, just the one I am running. I know there will be people asking about the 14 hour build and what is it...

hello friends, I need some solution for reducing the query execution time. Let me explain briefly: I have 5000 records in mysql database. actually i am using browse buttons to see the records. i,e forward, backward and fastforward etc.. if i press forward button it will show one record in their respective text field. so my problem is if i submit forward button it's taking more time to load values in the text box, and one more i...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
