I have a question that might have been asked before, but I have not been
able to find anything via groups.google.com or any web search that is
definative.
I am writing an evolutionary AI application in C++. I want to use 32-bit
integers, and I want the application to be able to save it's state in a
portable fashion.
The obvious choice would be to use the "long" type, as it is deined to be
at least 32 bits in size. However, the...

Hello all,
I was wondering if there were some sort of limitations on the "if"
statement? I'm writing a program which needs to check a bunch of
conditions all at the same time (basically). And I'm pretty sure the
rest of the program is working just fine. The only thing I could think
might be wrong is that the if statement can only hold so many values in
itself? Let me show what I'm doing:
if (table001]>>5]&b&0x1f] != 0 &&

I was taking a look at some of the C puzzles at:
http://purana.csa.iisc.ernet.in/~gkumar/cquestions.html and have not had
any trouble with any of them except for the first one which is reproduced
below:
The following C program segfaults of IA-64, but works fine on IA-32.
int main()
{
int* p;
p = (int*)malloc(sizeof(int));

I think you would agree with me that a C compiler that directly
produces Java Byte Code to be run on any JVM is something that is
missing to software programmers so far. With such a tool one could
stay with C and still be able to produce Java byte code for
platform independent apps. Also, old programs (with some tweaking)
could be re-compiled and ported to the JVM.
We have been developing such a tool over the last 2 years and currently...

Heya guys,
It seems VB .net no longer supports the awesome ability of VB 6 to declare
something as a string and specify how long the string would be all in one
line:
Public myString as String * 32 'this would make it 32 characters long
Apparently the VB .net conversion is to do this:
Public myString as String
myString = new String(CChar(" "), 32) 'this creates a string with
32 blank spots in it

I have db2 ESE v9 fix pak 2 installed on red hat linux kernel 2.6.
When I use db2 load facility even with 1 row to be inserted, I see
this error message:
SQL2044N An error occurred while accessing a message queue. Reason
code: "3".
I read some post online about SQL2044 and learned sometimes it is
about the linux kernel parameter not being set up correctly. But it is
not my case here. I've got the big enough msgmni:
# For DB2

I am trying to compile as much code in 64 bit mode as
possible to test the 64 bit version of lcc-win.
The problem appears now that size_t is now 64 bits.
Fine. It has to be since there are objects that are more than 4GB
long.
The problem is, when you have in thousands of places

Hi,
We have created triggers to log modifications to tables in our application.
The triggers work fine, just on one of the tables in our database the
triggers fail with the error message <SQL0437W Performance of this complex
query may be sub-optimal. Reason code: "1". SQLSTATE=01602>. The same
trigger on other tables works fine (the triggers are autogenerated with the
same structure for most of the tables used in our application).
I...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
