What's better about Ruby than Python? I'm sure there's something. What is
it?
This is not a troll. I'm language shopping and I want people's answers. I
don't know beans about Ruby or have any preconceived ideas about it. I have
noticed, however, that every programmer I talk to who's aware of Python is
also talking about Ruby. So it seems that Ruby has the potential to compete
with and displace Python. I'm curious on what basis it...

Beside its an opensource and supported by community, what's the fundamental
differences between PostgreSQL and those high-price commercial database (and
some are bloated such as Oracle) from software giant such as Microsoft SQL
Server, Oracle, and Sybase?
Is PostgreSQL reliable enough to be used for high-end commercial
application? Thanks

Hi,
I have a SQL server DB for a document handeling system.
For the new version of the system the database have been updated with
some new tables, new stored procedures and updated stored procedures.
There is no changes in the existing tables that contains data.
What is the best way to update this DB?
I had planned to use the SQL script generator. Is there a problem with
this?

Dear All,
One day our Windows 2000 Server OS crashed, so our NT admin has
re-installed the OS on C: drive. Fortunately we kept our database file
and installation in F: drive. When we re-installed DB2 on the same
location we are able to catalog and recover the database with old data
files. Now the problem is when i tried to create a database its
throwing errors "SQL1092N NCADMIN" does not have the authority to
perform the requested". So...

Does anyone remember this:
Set datapath to "c:\somewhere"
dNetUse "SomeTable"
do some db work
I asked the question a couple of days ago about how to attach a recordset or
some form of data to a datagrid. I was using DAO. The lack of responses
seemed to indicate that the question was out of the range of an answer. So I
started looking around to find out what does this datagrid want that the
datagrid in VB5 did not need. It looked...

Hi,
I am getting error SQL1131N during sqlj.install_jar(...). There is no useful message in the diag.log (even with diag level 4). I am giving the diag.log entries at the end of this posting (would have been ideal if there was an option to attach the file).
command:
db2 call sqlj.install_jar('file:/home/xyz/abc.jar','def.abc')
response:
SQL1131N DARI (Stored Procedure) process has been terminated abnormally.

I just started this week on a new project. The existing project uses
BEA Tuxedo as a second layer service broker. The clients make calls
to the Tux services which in turn retrieves data from an Oracle DB.
My job is to support the current application and possibly upgrade teh
client app to .Net. I have a few options:
I can rewrite the client desktop application .in Dot Net (FW3.0)
utilizing the same Tux calls or
Write a new desktop...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
