How to create DB2 DSN programmaticall y

1 New Member
Hi there,
I want to create DSN for DB2 database through my VB application.
I have installed DB2 v8.2 with FixPack6.0 ESE.
(The actual version shown in Control Center is DB2 V8.1.13.193)

The problem is that VB application crashes without reporting any error. DSN is not getting created.
But I am able to create DSN through Control Panel.

Here is the code snippet to create DSN

ODBCDRIVER = "IBM DB2 ODBC DRIVER"
ODBC_ADD_SYS_DS N=4
' Add Application DSN First

att = "DSN=" & AppDSN & Chr$(0)
att = att & "Description=BP F Metastore System DSN" & Chr$(0)
att = att & "DBALIAS=" & AppDB & Chr$(0)
ret = SQLConfigDataSo urce(0, ODBC_ADD_SYS_DS N, ODBCDRIVER, att) ==> crashes at this line

But the same code creates DSN if i install DB2 v 9.1

Your help would be appreciated

Regards
Senthil

Hello I want to create a MSI file programmatically. Do you know of any third party .NET component which can help me with that? I'm going to use it like a self extracting zip. So it is not for a VS.NET setup project. Zip files will not do because these shall be distributed via System Management Server (SMS).

This is probably a 'Low-Level' question to all the ACCESS experts but I've only been using ACCESS for a couple of weeks. I've been given 30+ (and counting) separate 'Weekly' Databases which all have a Table, in exactly the same Field format, in each of these 'Weekly' DataBases. I want to set-up a new 'Master' Database, so that I can write one Query to search all the 'Weekly' Databases and produce one new Table in the 'Master' Database...

Happy New Year! I'm writing a program that will need to store large amounts of data from several DataSets that I create at runtime (for information like email, calendar, etc...). The trick is that these files will need to be created programmatically. I think saving the DataSets into Access .mdb files is a logical choice, but I'm unable to find any information for creating NEW databases programmatically and I can only find information...

Just wondering if anyone knows the pros/cons between creating a database programmatically vs using the application's tool windows/features that come with SQLServer, Access, Oracle, etc... Is it the same? Does it really matter? I have created databases with .NET programmatically and it works fine, but why would anyone want to do all this typing when they can easily point and click inside the program? It took a few hours of typing for...

In asp.net 2.0 you can apply custom themes based on a user profile, etc. And you can change the theme programmatically, etc. But how do you edit or create a theme programmatically? I am working on a content management system where the user needs to be able to select fonts, colors, etc. Right now I can only see how to let the user select from a pre-defined set of themes. In the old days, you could generate the css file from user input...

I want to create a database with one table on the host. I can't user SQL Server Management Studio to do it so I guess I have to do it programmatically. I have in mind that in the session start (or maybe application start would be better) I'd check to see it the database exists and if not create it. The problem is that I have no idea how to do that.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
