Governor incorrectly forces processes

We are running DB2 V8 on Solaris 9. Last week we upgraded from FP7 to
FP13. Everything seemed to be fine, but yesterday we were confronted
with a strange behavior of the DB2 governor.

An application server process was forced by the governor with this log
message:

2006-10-23-12.51.43 0 FORCE applname `panh030` authid `ARNRUN`
applid C0A80401.O256.0 3A012212902` coord 0 (line 56) ET 4294967295

The rule on line 56 is a general rule to force processes with 10 hours
of idletime or uowtime. Both didn't apply to the process in question.

But the interesting fact is the "ET 4294967295" entry. In hex this is
0xffffffff equaling -1. That looks very much like an signed-unsigned
issue. I also found a closed APAR about a similar problem (IY73972,
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview...d=swg1IY73972). The problem
was fixed in FP11, but it seems there is another problem.

Has anyone seen this before?

I have enabled the query governor on our SQL2000 SP2 server with a threshold of 3600. Now, some of the maintenance jobs fail due to the limit being to low (e.g. one of the user databases integrity check fails nightly). I have tried to put the command 'SET QUERY_GOVERNOR_COST_LIMIT 0' just before the line in the step which reads 'EXECUTE master.dbo.xp_sqlmaint N'-Plan etc' but it has no effect.

hello folks, we have been developing several .NET-based windows forms applications during the last two years. there are two mysterious display problems that we have encountered so far but have been unable to find any information about: 1. distorted fonts. when placing label controls on forms or setting form or grid captions we often notice that the label or title text is stretched out in the left part, displays correctly in the middle...

I'm working on a VB.NET project where we are intending to use MSDE as our back-end database. The actual number of users is expected to be low and I don't have any concerns as to whether MSDE will be up to the job (most of the time). I'm aware that if we end up with lots of users connecting to our site at once (which may happen as certain times in the year when people need information for deadlines) then the performance governor in MSDE will...

Hello All, In IIS 6.0 We have a concept of worker processes and application pools. As I understand it, we can have multiple worker process per appliction pool. Each worker process is dedicated to a pool. If I assign only one application to a applicaton pool and have multiple worker processes assigned to that pool. Will my application be processed by many worker processes?

Alright, based a on discussion on this mailing list, I've started to wonder, why use threads vs processes. So, If I have a system that has a large area of shared memory, which would be better? I've been leaning towards threads, I'm going to say why. Processes seem fairly expensive from my research so far. Each fork copies the entire contents of memory into the new process. There's also a more expensive context switch between...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
