Need to know which indexes need to be rebuilt and command to do so.

Hi,

Could somebody help me out here please as I can't seem to find results
for what I want to do using a Google search and the IBM DBAs have gone
home.

We're using DB2 V8.1 on z/OS 1.7.

During my SAP upgrade, some tables have been flagged as needing indexes
to be rebuilt.

I think the command to display all the indexes needing to be rebuilt
is:

-DIS DB(*) SPACE(*) LIMIT(*) RESTRICT(RBDP)

But, is there an easy way to use the output of this command to create a
script to do

ALTER INDEX '<schema_owner> '.<indexnamereb uild (or whatever the
appropriate command is)

Thanks,
Declan.

I'm confused about something I did this week. I have an 8.1.7.4 database with tables partitioned by dates. I recently dropped my maxvalue tablespace, added a few more partitions for up-coming dates, then put the maxval partition back on. (I save the data that was in the maxval partition first and put it back in when I was done. These tables also contains BLOBS. All of my indexes were at a status of either "Valid" or "Usable" in the case of...

I've been doing some experiments with speeding up copying tables of approximately 1 million rows between databases using BCP and BULK INSERT. I noticed that the total time for removing the indexes (non-clustered) and then recreating them after the BULK INSERT was significantly less than just doing the BULK INSERT with the indexes left there, even though I specified TABLOCK. I would have expected SQL Server not to update the index until...

So yea... I rm-ed a rlv that our TS_FACT2 tblspace was using. So our db went to the crapper. The tblspace didn't have any pertinent info, so I'm ok with dropping the tblspace and starting over. These are the commands and errors that I have found: --db2 => restart database sware drop pending tablespace (TS_FACT2) DB20000I The RESTART DATABASE command completed successfully. --db2 => list tablespaces

Hi, I need some clearance on the following questions: 1) Does LOAD command updates indexes defined for a table? 2) Is REPLACE option in the LOAD command a logged operation? Help will be greatly appreciated. TIA

Hello, I always assumed that dropping table will drop everything associated with it like indexes, references etc. I just noticed that after dropping table A and recreating it and then creating index on it gave me error DROP TABLE tmp DB21034E The command was processed as an SQL statement because it was not a valid Command Line Processor command. During SQL processing it

As some readers of this newgroup can recall, I use Cognos' program called Data Manager to build my data warehouse. I has the ability to create indexes, however I cannot add other arguments to its command. It has a basic command such as CREATE INDEX PERSONNEL_ID ON "dbo"."F_Personnel_Detail" ( "PERSONNEL_ID" ) The index by default is built in the PRIMARY filegroup. I am testing out putting the indexes in their own filegroups and testing...

Hello all! I created a range-partitioned table, and noticed that indexes were created as "NOT PARTITIONED" (through db2look), even though I ran the index creating commands without this parameter. Not that I care too much now about it :-) But what will happen when once upon a time in the future I execute the "attach partition" command, and so add another partition to the existing (partitioned) table. Will the indexes then be automatically...

Hi all, I am comming along with all this Linus/DB2/scripting business...I am no longer scared of it!! (LOL). But, I need to create a .ksh script that does a REORGCHK and output only tables recommended for reorg. My goal is to reorgchk and run reorgs based on entries in this reorg file as shown in the example below. I have tried my hand at the following failing script and hope that gurus here can throw me a lifeline of examples on how to...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
