Windows Client for db2

I have a SAP demo version of db2 running on linux. I want to connect
to it using a windows client, rather than use the CL query tool on
Linux.

What do I need on the windows side to connect to it? Also, do I need
some sort of listener process on Linux?

I'd appreciate any help.

Assuming that you demo version DOES NOT USE UDB Personal Edition (run
the command: "db2licm -l" from the instance owner's id on the linux box
to see); you will need to istall the UDB client on the Windows system.

Catalog the TCPIP) node for the linux box, catalog the database(s) then
connect away from your Win box. Explanations of the CATALOG commands are
in the Command Reference manual.

UDB Personal edition does not allow remote connections. That's why you
can't do this if SAP's demo version uses PE.

Excuse my ignorance, but anyone have any links to some good white papers discussing the pros/cons for developing a Web-Based app versus a windows/client/server app? I would think this topic has been largely discussed many times over and I don't need to start another discussion, just some reference to some existing materials. I've been searching for hours and I must be having brain problems as I'm not coming up with much with the keywords...

Backround: I am trying to figure out how to do the equivalant of a classic COM Local Server Singleton in .NET/C#. I created a coupld of simple Class Libs that exposes public interfaces and hosted them in a Windows Forms EXE. Create a Windows Forms client and both the Client and the Host EXEs configure the remoting protocols through respective .config files. Problem: I want to change the host from an Win Forms EXE to a Windows Service.

Is there a way to query a remote xml file periodically by not using web services? For Windows and Unix platforms. Is there a cheap software product that I can install on each client and my Windows 2000 server and have 'secure' network access? I would love to use VS.NET to access both windows and Unix/Linux xml files.

I have developed my web service with a domain name of my computer name and wwwroot directory. I also developed a client of windows form application. It works locally (i.e. in the same machine). When I copy my client application to another machine and start it, I got an error about initialized problem. Note that I can browser my web service .asmx file from the second machine. The sample client source code:

We are trying to build a system where we have a Windows Service do some manipulation of data, and then sending the data to a Windows App. I had posted a question of how we should do this and was told remoting was the way to go. So I got a client and a server program up and going and from the client I can call a routine in the server program. I can't figure out how to actually send data to the client. At the moment the client calls a...

SQL Server will be used as the back-end database to a non trivial client application. In question is the choice of client application: I need to be able to speak intelligently about when one client (MS Access vs ..NET Windows Forms) would be preferred over the other. While I have some good arguments on both sides, I would appreciate your points of view on the topic.

Basically, I want to check if a URL is playable or not (without actually playing it). i.e. given a URL I want to write an automation script to figure it out for me if it's playable or not. If you give a bad/invalid URL for windows media player to play a pop-up window shows us that it cannot be played. So I would want to catch that event.

I'm tryign to display my own title bar. I've created a window without one but with a menu. The menu though is located in the upper left corner and I need to move it down. I need to set the client windows location but I can't seem to get the menu to move as it always starts at the upper left of the form. I want basically to have the form work exactly like its suppose to but implement my own title bar. i.e., I don't want to have to position...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
