UNInstall db2 code on Win2K

Hi,
We only purchased db2 udb license for AIX platforms. So I have to install
the DB2 UDB Version8.1 tried code on my laptop (Win2k). I haven't used it
for a long time. When I tried to bring the db2 instance up this week, I
found I already past the expiration date. I ran uninstall/reinstall db2 code
a couple of times, but I was always told - no valid license key.

PID:2160(db2sys cs.exe) TID:1316 Appid:none
oper system services licRequestAcces s Probe:2

SQL8008N The product "DB2 Enterprise Server Edition" does not have a valid
license key installed and the evaluation period has expired. Functions
specific to this product are not enabled.

I knew sometimes the NT uninstall process might leave some pieces. I checked
the NT Registry Editor, env variables, services, directories, ..., anywhere
I could think of. I also checked with uninstall documentation. No luck -:(

Does any one meet similar scenario? Does anyone have any idea? Dose any one
know if IBM Support supports this kind of problems?
Thanks,

Sounds like you may have a trial version. If you do have a full-blown
version, try using the db2licm command with the -a option against the
license key in your full-blown image.

After I removed the db2 trial code, and with reboot, with the help from an
NT expert. When none of them can help with my situation, I called one of my
friends and he sent me the above link. I followed the each step from the
documentation. But after reinstalled trial code, still got "Expired"
message. I drop/recreate the instance, could not get away this message
either.

Almost all software vendors design their trial code on Windows so that you
cannot uninstall and reinstall after the first trial period is over to get
around the expiration of the trial period.

They do this by storing hidden files or registry entries that know you have
previously run the trial software. Sometimes you can get around this by
editing the Windows registry to remove all references to DB2. Or there may
be other hidden files that you can search for on your system where DB2 keeps
track of your previous trial install date.

Thank you, Mark. I was thinking the same thing, maybe when a trial code keep
installing on the same server, the number of installation times will be
saved somewhere. But I ever installed db2 udb version7.2 trial code on the
linux a couple of times, never met this problem before. The difference
between windows and unix/linux, is we can trust the remove procedure, which
can clean the software code totally on Linux or unix platform.
I never heard Oracle would keep track of the installation of trial code
either.

Actualy when you uninstall (using the uninstall script), on Linux, not
ALL is removed. You still have to remove an entry that is made in
/etc/services and remove the /var/db2 folder.

Just my 2 cents
