uninstalling a fixpak

Hi everyone,

According to the fixpak Readme, you can uninstall a Fixpak on UNIX (AIX
to be precise), by doing a rollback...and all the other things described
in the readme.

My question is, do I have to restore a backup of the DB from the old
fixpak level, or is the DB not affected and all I simply have to do is
rebind the original Fixpak level's packages?
Thank you,

Hi Christos,

It depends. If you picked up any new function provided by a fixpack then
you would need to either restore from a backup or drop the relevant objects.
An example would have been customers who altered IDENTITY columns in
V7.2 could not go back to V7.1.2 unless they dropped the respective
tables since DB2 could not digest the catalog changes.
If all you did was install a fixpack without exploiting any new DDL
features you can go back.

Cheers
Serge

I believe you'll have to apply the image you had taken prior to the
application of the fixoack.

The other issue you may encounter is that changes may have been made to
catalog tables when you applied the fixpack and they could be
incompatible with your original fixpack code if you don't restore your
image.

I'd restore if I were you unless you are looking at several hours of
work abnd even then...

HTH' Pierre.
PS: Say Hi! to Eric.

I have UDB ESE fixpak 2 installed on a Windows XP Pro machine. I downloaded ESE fixpak 3 (and fixpak 4) from the IBM Web site. When I run the fixpak 3 installer (or the fixpak 4 installer for that matter) I get the following error: "This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it or contact the vendor". I know the 500 meg fixpak file is valid because it installed correctly on...

We are considering to update from V8.1 Fixpak 8 to Fixpak 9. The environment is: AIX: 5.2 "DB2 v8.1.1.80", "special_13100", "U800400_13100", FixPak "8" 64 bits. With DPF: 4 nodes with 16 partitions. With 4 instances. My concern: do i need to install Fixpak binary code on four nodes individually?

Hello, does anyone know why on the IBM download section of the UDB Support page http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data/db2/udb/support/ FP 13, 11 and 10 are listed prominently, but not FP12. We tried fixpak 11, found you couldn't uninstall it with Windows installer(that was great), this was fixed in 12. We are now in the final stages in the process of deploying FP12 for DB2 Connect

I'm currently on DB2 LUW v8.1 fixpack 5 DB21085I Instance "xxxx" uses "32" bits and DB2 code release "SQL08015" with level identifier "02060106". Informational tokens are "DB2 v8.1.0.48", "s040212", "MI00069", and FixPak "5". Product is installed at "/opt/IBM/db2/V8.1". I wish to upgrade to v8.1 fixpak 14 (aka v8.2 fixpak 7), the Linux 2.4 kernel version. Can I do this directly? Or do I have to goto v8.1 fixpak 7

DB2 LUW 8.2 FP14 Red Hat AS 2.1 I am using a response file w/ db2setup to install DB2. I then want to install the latest fixpak in the same automated way. Is there any way to use a response file w/ fixpak installation? Or can I otherwise do an automated (non-interactive) fixpak install?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
