DB2 installation on Mandrake 10.1

Hi all,

I am trying to install IBM DB2 V8.1 on Mandrake Linux 10.1.

Java is installed and when I try to run db2setup as a root, I get the
following error:

[root@EHOEKX cdrom]# ./db2setup
DBI1190I db2setup is preparing the DB2 Setup Wizard which will
guide you through the program setup process. Please
wait.
/mnt/cdrom/db2/linux/install/db2jinst: line 130: 18354 Segmentation
fault $JAVA_PATH/$JAVA_INTERPRET ER $JAVA_OPTIONS -cp
$JAVA_CLASSPATH $DB2SetupRun "$@" 2>/tmp/db2setup.err.ru nning
Does anyone know what this means?
And how I can solve it

regards

Install DB2 V8.2 instead. DB2 V8.1 is too old for 2.6 kernels. See
http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/DB2-HOWTO/index.html for experiences with
installing V8.2 on Mandrake 10.1 (Community).

It means the version of Java that you have installed is not the IBM JRE,
and it also means you're installing DB2 V8.1 on a 2.6 kernel-based
distribution. DB2 V8.2 offers great support for 2.6 kernels.

If you absolutely have to install DB2 V8.1, uninstall whatever the
current version of Java is on your system, download and install the
latest version of the IBM JRE from
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/index.html, then install DB2
V8.1. Note that you will not be eligible for support, as Mandrake 10.1
is not on the validated distributions list:
http://ibm.com/db2/linux/validate -- but it's fine for learning and
playing around.

Mandrake Corporate Server 3.0 has been validated with DB2 V8.2, if you
want to deploy DB2 in a production environment on a Mandrake distribution.
And how I can solve it

Hi, I run Mandrake 10.0 with python 2.3 installed by default. I want to keep it as it is but need another, very customized Python installation based of 2.3 as well. I would prefer to have it the way it is on Windows, one folder e.g. /opt/mypython with all the stuff under that. It would be unlike that standard installation where everything is scattered across /usr /bin/ /.../doc. That way I can easily tar it and distribute to whatever...

Has anyone managed to get DB2 V8.1 to install and run on Linux Mandrake 9.1/9.2? I know that IBM does not officially support DB2 on Mandrake but I also know that the clever people who buy DB2 sometimes find a way to do things that aren't supported. Unfortunately, I'm not that clever, especially about installing things. The last time I tried to install DB2 V8.1 on Mandrake, I hit a roadblock that I wasn't able to overcome. There were...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
