ID DB2 IDENTITY columns w/ type 4 JDBC DatabaseMetaDat a?

aj
Red Hat AS 2.1
DB2 WSE v8.1 FP5
Type 4 DB2 JDBC driver

Using java.sql.Databa seMetaData and ResultSetMetaDa ta,
I've written a JDBC/Java utility that shows, table by
table, columns & their types, NOT NULLness, PK, FK,
and unique indexes.

But one thing that I can't seem to extract is info
about what column(s) are DB2 IDENTITY columns.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can do this JDBC-wise?

TIA

I think that you can check SYSCAT.COLIDENT ATTRIBUTES catalog view, which
contains each identity column defined.

I appreciate your reply - however I was looking for a JDBC API
way to do this, rather than something that is specific to DB2.
That way, my code is not chained to a specific database...

Any other ideas?

Can you access "extended describe" information? I know that CLI exposes
this information through extended/full describe. So the stuff is lying
around. Question is whether it's in the JDBC interface.

Cheers

Hello, Under mysql, we have "desc tablename" to get the detail information about a table. My question is about to get column name, and column type for a specific table under PostgreSQL through JDBC. Assume we have a table named "test". Under PSQL, we can input "\d test" to see the details about table "test" successufully. However, my main purpose is trying to get column name, column name of a table through JDBC.

Hi. Below is a simple JDBC program to insert and extract a numerical value. When ResultSet.getDouble() is called, the same program produces different output on solaris than it does on Linux. I would be grateful for any discussion of this! thanks, Joe Weinstein at BEA Systems Results on Linux Box -----------------------------------------------------------------------

We have installed DB2UDB 8.2 on a windows 2003 server. How can I confirm the version of the JDBC driver that would have been installed with this? I wasn;t sure if the JBDC driver would have a different version/build then the DB version itself. Thanks, Bob Cook

I want to use DatabaseMetadata to retrieve details of those stored procedures which belong to the current schema. How can I find out what is the current schema for an existing Connection? Or alternatively is there any special syntax in the getProcedures method to limit the results to procedures belonging to the current schema? Is there any clear documentation about the interpretation to be given to catalog and schema in DB2's JDBC...

I am writing on an embedded device (J9 framework from IBM) that has a partial version of the java.sql package. It does not include Driver or DriverManager. I have downloaded the mysql Connector/J but all of their examples use the DriverManager. Something like: conn = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost/test?" + "user=monty&password=greatsqldb"); Does anyone know of any modules that...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
