I have a distributed inventory control database that I am going to
migrate from Access to SQL Server. I am going to use SQL Server
Replication to keep the data current.
There will one SQL Server 2000 database at HeadOffice, and about 200
branches will each have MSDE 2000.
For tables that are the same for each branch (e.g. StockItems,
Suppliers), I'm going to use Transactional replication with the
HeadOffice as Publisher. There is no...

Hello,
We are trying to set up replication between different versions of SQL
Server (7 & 2000).
This is how the 2 servers are now setup:
DB1 - External web-server w/SQL Server 7
DB2 - Internal server w/SQL Server 2000

Hi,
For some magical reason, my database replication has suddenly stopped
working. I modified the publication but the Distribution agent will
not run; the snapshot does not get applied to the subscriber, and
changes made at the publisher do not get replicated.
My configuration is: Transactional Replication with a 'Pull'
Subscription. The Subscriber is Updateable with Immediate Updates

Hi all,
I am looking at a problem we encountered with replication. Our front-end and
back-end are Microsoft Access 2000. We have a design master at the server
and replicas at five notebooks. The notebooks are synchronized daily by the
users via a form that uses Microsoft Jet and Replication Objects (JRO) and
this works well.
I have a few questions about this:
1. A problem occurs when two users change the same field in the same record

Hi,
Does anyone have experience in replicating between two servers running
2000 with a database in 65 compatibility mode?
Here's my situation. I'm setting up two servers. Server 1 is the
transaction server and Server 2 is the reporting server. Both servers
are running Win 2000 and SQL Server 2000. I have several databases to
setup transactional replication from the transaction server to the
reporting server. One of the databases on...

All my queries are being blocked while the tables are being replicated
and it is causing some 2 minute blocking. Is there a way for the
Replication to allow dirty reads because I really don't care about
that, I would rather have dirty reads than 2 minute waits.
Thanks.

Hi,
I am trying to set up Transactional replication with immediate
updation.
The configuration is as follows:
1. Publisher is SQL server 2000 Enterprise Edition, and Distributor is
on the same server.
2. Publisher SQL server is installed on Windows 2003.

Hi
I tried posting this query in microsoft.public.sqlserver.programming but got
no response.
I am new to replication but I am trying to setup up a transactional
replication of tables from one database to another in MSSQL 2000 (SP2).
My target tables have primary keys defined. Under publication properties I
go to the snapshot tab and for each table I clear the check box that says

Hi,
I have transactional replication set up on on of our MS SQL 2000 (SP4)
Std Edition database server
Because of an unfortunate scenario, I had to restore one of the
publication databases. I scripted the replication module and dropped
the publication first. Then did a full restore.
When I try to set up the replication thru the script, it created the

We have a sql server 2000 sp3 server on a win2k3 server standard
edition. This is on dell hardware with a dell scsi dasd enclosure
directly attached. We want to duplicate the hardware and replicate or
mirror the database to the backup server and do a manual or automatic
failover in case of outage(more than likely manual). Wondering right
now if replication - with say software like doubletake - is preferred
over sql database mirroring or...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
