I'm finding this to be extremely difficult to set up. I understand
that Access won't manage the primary key and the cascade updates for a
table. Fine. I tried changing the PK type to number and setting
default value to a UDF that manages the auto-numbering. Access won't
take a UDF as a default value. Okay, I'll use SQL WITHOUT any
aggregate functions, for the default value. Access won't do that
either. Okay, I create a second...

Hi, I've prepared a test case about this, which I include below. I
have tables "a" and "b"; "b" has a foreign key to "a", on delete
cascade. In addition, there is a "before delete on b" trigger, which
all that does is show the current_user. If a row is deleted from "a",
and this triggers a delete from "b", which in turn activates the
show_current_user trigger, the triggered function selects
"current_user", and the result is the user who...

Hello.
I want to discuss a problem I have with my database design becourse I
feel I cannot decide wheather I am on the right way of doing things.
First of all, I am writing a literature and magazine database with web
(PHP) and C++ Interface, serving over the web and in a very fast LAN.
So my concern is about performance (and aestaetic by doing the things
as optimal as possible.) This is my first database at all, but I have
read a lot of...

Hi,
If during a transaction a number of deferred triggers are fired, what will be
their execution order upon the commit?
Will they be executed in order of firing or alfabetically or something
entirely different? The docs only mention regular triggers being executed
alfabetically.

hi,
Here's the scenario
1) I am running a DTS job to fetch some rows from Oracle
2) The job populates the Table A as step 1
3) Then it fires a update statement which updates the rows in Table B.
Here's the statement
UPDATE Table B SET

Greetings,
I have to delete older policies and its related records in other
tables.
The deletion from the parent table will trigger the deletion of
relevant records from about 30 something tables that are defined with
DELETE CASCADE.
The delete SQL goes like this:

Hi everyone,
Wonder if anyone can shed some light on how i should setup cascade
deletes of object data within my database.
One option is to use SQL triggers, is this a good idea? Should the
logic be in my business layer instead? or maybe even the data access
layer?
I also have the problem when performing an insert. If i insert a

Hello All,
I have a table on which I have created a insert,Update and a Delete trigger. All these triggers write a entry to another audit table with the unique key for each table and the timestamp.
Insert and Update trigger work fine when i have only one of them defined.
However when I have all the 3 triggers in place and when i try to fire a insert query on the statement. It triggers both insert and update trigger at the same time and...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
