I am unable to see the health monitor SQL table functions (e.g.:
SQLPROC.HEALTH_ CONT_HI). Have I missed a utility which registers the
functions? DB2 8.1.3.132 WR21324.
Another point about the health monitor - when I get notification messages
all they say is that a particular instance/db has a warning or alarm. I
have to open the health centre to see what the actual warning / alarm is. I
would much prefer if the email had at least a hint as to the nature of ther
warning / alarm.
TIA,

I think you have to run a utility called db2updv8. You can search on it
(or HEALTH_CONT_HI) here: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoce...help/index.jsp
I'll pass on your concerns about the e-mail.

One more thought from the Health team - is it possible you set the
Contact to receive Pages and not e-mail? Pages only have a subject line
in the e-mail indicating that there is an alarm or warning. There is no
more info. This matches with what you are saying. If you set the Contact
to recieve e-mail, then you will get a lot more info on the HI, values,
history, etc.

And another thought: you can also use the db2 GET RECOMENDATIONS FOR

INDICATOR shortname" commands from the command line to get more
information.

Blair,
Thanks for the additional reply. As far as I can see the contacts are
definitely email contacts:
If I open the Health Center and then open Tools->Contacts my contacts are
listed as Type=Contact, Pager=No. If I select Change on a particular
contact I get the "Change Contact" dialog box with the "Address is for a
pager" box unchecked.
FWIW, the SMTP email system which is setup for the health center is a
Microsoft Exchange server, and I use Outlook as the client...
Thanks,
Bruce

Further, can you:
1. Open the message.
2. Select File | Properties from the menu.
3. Click on the details tab.
4. Click on the message source button.
5. Copy and paste the contents of the message source window into a note
to me (ad******@ca.ib m.com)? thanks,

Hellos again,
I seem to be having a weird issue. Whenever DB2 Health monitor seems
to run, all connections to the database seem to just lock up. For
example: (and this seems consistent) In list applications, DB2Hmon
will show as "compiling statement", If I issue a "connect to
database"it will hang there until DB2HMON is completed and no longer
showing as a active application. Below is a lock snapshot that occurs
when this is happening....

Hi people,
How can I reduce the amount of memory required to have the health
monitor running. Presently whenever I start it I get endless out of
memory errors in the db2diag.log when strictly speaking there is over
700mb of real memory left available.
It's a most annoying issue as the database will not perform automatic
reorgs without the health monitor running. Automatic runstats still
functions but reorgs just never occur.

How often does the health monitor check the threshold of an indicator
to see if there is a warning or alarm? I am trying to simulate the
behaviour of the health monitor and have a dms tablespace at 100%, and
so far over the last 18 hours I have only gotten one email about it.
Is there a way to adjust the frequency of the threshold check? I am
aware of the sensitivity setting, and we have that at 0.
Thanks,

I have opened a PMR for this with IBM, and am not asking for advice from the DB2 DBA community. I am posting this as an FYI that DB2 Health Monitor, even at the latest version of DB2, still can cause huge problems with slow connect times and heavy resource locking in high concurrency / high transaction volume environments. I have an OLTP with 30-90 transactions per second activity, and start of Health Monitor every 2 hours was crashing our...

This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
