What are the best courses to learn networking?

I want to become a network administrator. What course would you suggest?I don't know the difference between UNIX administration, Windows administration and CCNA....? What would be the courses to take?

If you don't have any certs as of yet, start with CompTIA's A+

The best way to learn networking is to do it. Get a couple or a few older computers (possibly that people don't want) and practice building a network. You won't really learn unless you actually do it. I personally don't believe in all of the multiple guess certifications. Every interview I have ever had typically started with "don't tell me about any certifications you have because they don't mean anything". There is no replacement for experience. If you don't do it, you won't be able to answer real world questions in your interviews. Flash cards and Certification tests are for book knowledge.

There are so many links on the internet for networking that you shouldn't have to pay for some course.

Ok, off of my soap box.

Regards,

Jeff
