Help needed with the while loop

8 New Member
Hi there
I need help with the while loop, ive just started learning about it and I do not understand it. I heard that if the condition is true, the statements executes until
it becomes false.

It would be nice if someone could write me a small and simple example code
that shows me how the while loop works.

I was having trouble understanding the following:

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. #include <iostream>
  2. using namespace std;
  3. int main()
  4. {
  5.     int length, width, num;
  6.
  7.    cin >> num;
  8.
  9.     while(num < 20) {
  10.                   cout << "KKK ";
  11.                   num++;
  12.     }
  13.     cin.get();
  14.     cin.get();
  15.     cin.get();
  16.     return 0;
  17. }

Until the condition becomes false while loop will be executed.

In you example

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. cin >> num;
  2.
  3. while(num < 20) {
  4. cout << "KKK ";
  5. num++;
  6. }
  7.
if user inputs value less than 20 while loop will execute and it prints numbers from user input value till 19.

example: if user entered 15 then your program will print

Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. 15
  2. 16
  3. 17
  4. 18
  5. 19
  6.
if user has entered something greater than 20 or 20. Your program won't print anything.
