Is there any implementation work being done for the new STD?

Except Boost I mean.
AFAIK major chunks of the new std are already "closed", are there any
compiler vendors that are already working on releasing compilers
compatible with the new std?

I want to "get dirty" with the new std...

Sure, most of them, I imagine. See e.g. GCC C++0x status -

Comeau C++ 4.3.10.1, which is currently in beta, supports a number
of C++0xisms. See the following for some of those thus far:
