Hello everyone.
I am new to programming and my uncle gave me a copy of "C For Dummies
2nd Edition". I am up to chapter 9 right now. He probably saw me
struggling with "The C Programming Language" by Ritchie and Kernigahn
and felt bad.
Does anyone have experience with this book? I feel that it is helping me
along pretty well. But how much will this book teach me? What would be
the next book to read?

Can anyone explain the difference between RowStateFilter
and RowFilter properties of the DataView objects in simple
terms?
I am going through a Transcender practice exam and just
when I think I understand the difference I miss the
question. Didn't pass the 306 exam two weeks ago and
don't want to repeat that again <<scored 680, needed 700 :-

I have the infamous GoF Design Patterns boo - it's been sittin gon my shelf
for years. I have a huge reading list and find this book a rather dry read
and am always putting it off.
I have recommendation for "Head First Design Patterns" book, but it's aimed
aimed at Java developers. I'd rather have a book that has a "For Dummies"
readability that that hopefully exploits C# and .NET features and (oh,
please, please, please) includes a CD...

Is there a "For Dummies" guide to the Component UI Application Blocks
(CAB)?
CAB seems to do what I need for a new application I'm building... but the
documentation provided with the Quickstart is a bit mediocre (I hate VS.NET
2005's help browser).
Are there any books out that go over the architecture in detail - and how
to build a sample app from the ground up?

I'm working on a mini-micro CMS that amounts to
a semi-automatic page-generation system that allows
authorized users to manipulate an administrative menu.
Once installed, the system is remarkably easy to use,
even for non-html jokies.
Installation is always a bit of adventure.
On linux, mysql is usually but not always available.
If mysql is available, a config file can be edited with a form.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
