error with typedefing

Hello, I am getting an error message saying "expected init-declarator before '<' token"

These lines come in this order but from two different document:
First header file that is included:

typedef unsigned int uint;

Secnd header file that is included (after the first file):

#define  C_TYPE  uint
typedef vector<C_TYPE> cvec;

The error is at the last of the lines I posted. What does the error message mean and what shall I do about it? Can you spot the error from my code?

Oh, I caught the error myself. I hadn't specified namespace std, this was a separate library, so it was certainly not passed over from the main cpp file.

That's probably a good thing as most people don't look in the Articles section ;)
