C/C++ and MySQL

I am writing a console application which will do quite a lot of mathematical calculations, I need a way to safe it in mysql, so i can use it later (by PHP)

I need to know how to save and retrieve information from mysql
anyone know how to do it?

I had to do something like this between C++ and the LDAP database. I found some LDAP API functions that klet me do this. Are there any API functions for mysql?.
