Why it is required to use tab and not spaces before command in
Makefile??

Make utilities and the files they process are not defined by, or part
of, the C language, so the question is off-topic here. Also, there is
not one make utility, but many different ones, and they all have
subtle differences from each other.

Ask in a group that supports your particular tool set.
