exception handling ?

Hi,

I have not used much of exception handling in C++ and was wondering
what are the right situations to do so . Coming from a C background ,
error handling seems to take care of most things. When should one
decide to throw an exception and when should one try to stick to error
handling ?

Thanks in advance,
vivekian
