derivate

Salve a tutti.
Ho un problema che spero possiate aiutarmi a risolvere.
Dovrei scrivere un piccolo programma che calcoli le derivate simboliche di
una funzione data sotto forma di stringa.
Grazie per l'aiuto.
Ric.

No we don't necessarily. However the chances of an intelligent
reply are greatly enhanced by the use of something resembling
English.

I have a doubt about that. ;-)

You need to be more specific. You are saying that it's a "piccolo programma"
so I assume that it should be able to differentiate only polynomials and not
algebraic or transcendental functions.

That being the case, the rules of differentiation for constants, sums,
differences, products, quotients, and powers in your textbook pretty much
spell out the algorithm that you're looking for. I haven't done any symbolic
computation in C so the simplest example that I know of is in the book LISP
by Patrick Winston published by Addison-Wesley. That should give you enough
to get you started.
