It means the same as the one before, with just the type int replaced by
Student, i.e. it points to an instance of type Student, and that instance
can't be modified through the pointer. What's unclear about that?

This sounds weird, but I am looking for separate behaviors for destruction of a const and non-const object. I am trying to develop a smart/auto pointer class for writing objects to disk implicitly. The destructor of this class saves the object to the disk if it is dirty. The problem comes in the following scenario when a function returns an...

Whats the point of making functions which take arguments of a form like "const char *x"? It appears that this has no effect on the function actually working and doing its job, ie, if the function doesn't write to x, then it doesnt seem like the compiler could care less whether I specify the const part. Quite the opposite, if one uses const...

Hi Everyone I have const char *p = "Hello"; So, here memory is not allocated by C++ compiler for p and hence I cannot access p to modify the contents to "Kello" p = 'K'; // error at runtime

I understand the semantics of why this works the way it does. But I wonder if there's a reason for the behaviore at the line marked "QUESTION". I figured if there is an answer, someone here knows it. Specifically, part 1 is obvious to most anyone. Part 2 is isomorphic to part 1, yet behaves differently. If a shared_ptr is const, should...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
