Installing MinGw

I am trying to install MinGw on my system(Windows XP SP-2)
on starting the installer it starts downloading some files i have a
slow internet connection so it is taking a lot of time. Is there any
way that i can download those files and install them without
downloading anything during installation. Also there are many other
files gcc-core(or something like whats) their use and where in my
system should i place them.

Check out http://www.mingw.org/mingwfaq.shtml and
http://www.mingw.org/lists.shtml.You'll get better answers there.

FWIW, several months ago I successfully installed MinGW on Windows 2000 by
downloading the most recent versions of all the packages
(http://www.mingw.org/download.shtml) and merging their directory trees.
