This question is off topic here. You need to ask in a newsgroup for your
OS, either microsoft which would probably be microsoft.publi c.vc.language,
or a linux newsgroup or even mac or OS400 or whatever your OS is.

An application I am developing executes many threads and then has a "monitor" part that waits for certain events. One of these events causes the application to have to shutdown. On shutdown the monitor part notifies the threads of a shutdown, and the threads must cleanup and exit. When all threads have exited the monitor itself exits. The traceback below occured on a shutdown. At the time there was only one thread running, however the...

I have a rather odd problem that I'm at a loss to explain. The mdb is in A2K2 format, and has many tables linked to around 3-4 different back end mdbs. It is running on a Win2K3 server (set up as a TS application server, if that's relevant). The process that is running is producing a large number of reports, sometimes to .snp format, sometimes to printer. When trying to access one particular mdb, it will come up with the error "<mdb...

I'm currently working on a page for our ASP.Net application that displays some information about the runtime for the current machine. The ultimate goal is to be able to determine what threads are running, why they are running (i.e. where and when they got started), what state they are in, and if there are any orphaned or dead threads that should have been closed but weren't. My problem, is that I have no idea how to get the "name" of a...

Hello, I have an application that processes thousands of files each day. The filenames and various related file information is retrieved, related filenames are associate and placed in a linked list within a single object, which is then placed on a stack(This cuts down thread creation and deletions roughly by a factor of 4). I create up to 12 threads, which then process a single object off of the stack. I use a loop with a boolean...

Hi, I'm working on a multi-threaded application. I'm using ThreadPools. One of the requirements of the application is, if certain exception occurs all the counters have to be reset. I have noticed that some threads, even after resetting the counters, have the old values.

Hi - I am writing a service which will check a process and its threads for their state ( alive or dead ). The process has 5 .net managed threads created using thread.start and each have been assigned a name. As in .net there is no way we can get the managed threads, I am thinking of making a win32 call and check their status.

Is there a way to find all the thread names that are running in a project? For example, if I have 5 threads T1, T2, T3, T4, T5...and T2, T4, and T5 are running...I want to be able to know that T2, T4 and T5 are already running. Thanks, Darian

I need to find out how many threads a process has. I have used ThreadPool.GetAvailableThreads and ThreadPool.GetMaxThreads, but they both show 50 for worker threads and 100 for port threads. This stays the same as each thread is opened up. After 3 or 4 are open the numbers are the same. How can I get the number of threads if this doesn't work? Thanks,

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
