Passing pointers

4 New Member
First of all I am new to C++.
I have created a class, lets say class A. When the constructor is called I create two new classes Class B and Class C, then are not the same class as A.

I need to get data from class B into Class C. How should I go about this? I though I could make a function in class A that returns the data, but how do I get a pointer of Class A into Class B so I can access the data from class A Since Class B is created during the constructor their is no way of passing a pointer of Class A to it.

Let's back up a minute.

First, you declare a class.

Second, you define a object of the class. Here the compiler will use your class declaration to allocate memory for your data members and will call your constructor top initialize those data members.

Third, you now have an object of class A so I don't know what you mean by "When the constructor is called I create two new classes Class B and Class C, then are not the same class as A."

Maybe you could clear up my confusion and then we can go from there.

Thanks to all of you because I solved the problem related with my previous post. I simply made confusion with pointers to pointers and then succeeded passing the reference to the first element pointer. :-)) You were right about by mixed code: quickly writing an example to clarify the matter I made a C++ program, sorry for the inconvenience. Anyway, although it all works fine with monodimensional arrays, I still have a problem with...

Hi, I'm a C programmer taking my first steps into the world of C++. I'm currently developing a C++ 3D graphics application using GLUT (OpenGL Utility Toolkit written in C) for the GUI components. The application is built around a "World" object that contains a "GUI" object that is a C++ wrapper around GLUT. What I'd like to do is pass a pointer to a member function in the World class to function in the GUI

I'm using ctypes to call a fortran dll from python. I have no problems passing integer and double arryas, but I have an error with str arrys. For example: ..... StringVector = c_char_p * len(id) # id is a list of strings Id_dat=StringVector() for i in range(len(Id)): ....Id_dat=id

which one do you think is better ? I need to make my program efficient and in some places I have passed the copy of a variable which makes life some what easy while writing huge expressions but they do requrie much more memory than a simple pointer.

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
