Uh, what? How can you print to a deskjet and not a laserjet? How could the type of printer be relevant?

How are you printing to a deskjet anyway?

True, all OS's have a HAL(hardware abstraction layer),which alows OS to pass trough the driver a hardware instruction to the relevant hardware. As long as drivers for the printer are OK,HAL will make sure your request will be processed as it should be.

Please show us relevant code OP..

Hi folks, I wish to print on pre-printed continuous forms on a dot matrix printer. My initial intent was to access to printer directly (in raw mode, somehow) in order to send whatever is necessary to do the job. I had to try... but FileOpen does not permit opening LPT1.

I have a strange problem - I just changed from an inkjet to a laser printer - and my VB.NET source code won't print. I see the title at the top of the page, and the little arrows where a line has wrapped - and that's it! I have been into the Tools/Options, set my foreground colour to black and background to white (and tried automatic) - nothing. I tried "use same settings as text editor" - still nothing. I've even made sure that a bit...

I read the faq, and it mentions that IE 4 on windows requires setting a printing option to allow background colors to be printed. Things change, life goes on, other browsers come into existence.... So, is there a way in CSS to say "Yeah, print these background colors", without the user having to turn on an option that will then apply to all pages printed? Thanks,

Hi, I have created some code for printing a column report. The default page size is 850 x 1100, which is correct. The print preview looks perfect. The data is positioned exactly where it should be. (centered) When I go to print however, the data is shifted to the right. About a margin's worth. I set the margins at 50 and it looks like it is at 100. I checked the code and the starting X position is at 50. So why is it

I'm currently working on my first complex VB.Net / Winforms application where I'm not using CR to print my Invoices, but have written using PrintDoc My problem is that on my dev machine, everything works fine. When I deploy it on the production server, the graphic and lines print fine. But no text prints. If I print to a PDF creator on the server, the fonts appear just fine. I've verified that the font's I'm using are also on the server ...

I am developing a database where some reports need to print to a laser and some need to print to a dot matrix printer. I am not interested in how to do this programmatically, I will let the user manually select the printer for each report, my question is..... Is printing to a dot matrix printer the same (as far as Access in concerned) as printing to a laser or inkjet printer? Do I just create the report, set the margins and click...

My OnDraw() shows a bitmap via pDC->StretchBlt(), and when I send it to an inkjet printer it looks fine. But when I send it to a laser printer, the picture is gone -- but text and lines that I added are still there. I've tried two different laser printers, and lots of settings, but no luck. Is this a bug in the printer drivers, or what? Can anyone help?

I had developed an application using MS Access 2003 and in my reports I have no problem whether viewing or printing it in one page from my PC or Notebook. Also no problem when I opened this application in MS Access 2007 in my PC or Notebook and printing the report (either in MS Acceess 2003 or 2007). By the way my printer is HP Laser Jet 1022. My problem is when I deploy this application on another computer, and the printer is also different (HP...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
