library problem

Hi,

I have the following problem....

[mmfernan@algopc 151 exercices]$ cc IO.c -o IO.o
IO.c:1:22: error: iostream.h: No such file or directory
IO.c: In function 'main':
IO.c:6: error: 'cout' undeclared (first use in this function)
IO.c:6: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
IO.c:6: error: for each function it appears in.)
IO.c:7: error: 'cin' undeclared (first use in this function)
IO.c:10: error: 'end1' undeclared (first use in this function)

I have looked inside the libraries of my gcc but there is no iostream.h,
what should I do?

thanks

Marcelo

#include <iostream>
is more up-to-date. Also,
* the .c suffix is more often used for C code.
* How sure are you that "cc" runs "g++" on your system?
I suggest you consult the documentation relating to your system
and the compiler. It's even possible that something's been wrongly
installed - an issue well beyond the scope of this newsgroup.

ah, okay. It works with g++.

What's the difference between gxx, g++ and cc? I don't undestand it ....
thanks

That's a question you really should ask in the GCC groups, or possibly
with your compiler supplier. (e.g. your Linux distributor's groups)

Try --version, though.

We have a strange error here. We have an application that is built in VC++ 6.0 and uses a C library built using the same. Now, we have migrated to .Net and have used the same source code to be built using the new compiler. What happens now is, that any call that we make to the C library(also built in .Net Env now) from the VC++ Application(built in .Net now), falls prey to a runtime exception and gets into our try catch block. We are...

Hi guys, I have a problem with my VS project, it keeps saying COM Interop registration failed. Could not find a type library for assembly 'Class1'. If I choose to continue, everything still work fine. If I type regasm class1.dll /tlb, it will create a .tlb file and solve the problem, but this file will run into the VS setup project 'detected dependencies' too, I dont want to include this file as basically I think it is not needed (as...

Please excuse the length of this post, I am unfortunately long-winded, and don't know how to make my postings more brief. I have a C++ class library (and application generator, called Yacc++(r) and the Language Objects Library) that I have converted over to C#. It works okay. However, in the C# version, one has to build the class library into the generated application, because I haven't structured this one thing right. I would like to...

First of all, sorry for duplicating this post. I put it up in the alt.comp.lang.learn.c-c++ mistakenly. I'm investigating a problem whereby exceptions thrown from functions in a Shared Library which was dynamically loaded (dlopen) are not properly caught by the caller. Specifically, when compiling with G++ version 4.0, the RTTI data associated with the exception types is not being properly aligned between the Shared Library and its...

Question about putting the data layer in a separate class library. I keep reading that the data layer should be separated from the presentation layer and put in its own class library. I am trying to do this but running into a problem. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I first create a class library (all code in C#) and within this class library create a very simple Sql Server Express database (.mdb) file. It's...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
