I can install Python 2.4 on the Fedora 3 Linux system, but after I do a
number of Linux utilities and commands, like yum, stop working because
they were dependent on the Python 2.3 installation. What happens is that
Python 2.4 replaces the /usr/bin/python module with the Python 2.4
version. If I replace /usr/bin/python with the Python 2.3 version
executable, which is still on my system, that all the aforesaid modules
depend on, they start...

This has been discussed before back in 2002, and then in Feb of 2003
when I did a search on Google Groups for MySQL Table Sizes. Back then,
people said go here:

However, people have posted replies at the bottom of this page saying
that this information is severely out of date.

gcc is whimsical about templates. It does understand the declaration

currently we use DB2 7.1 on several Solaris machines. Now we are
planning, to migrate to SUSE Linux (newest version).
I wonder, if we can keep our DB2 version 7.1, or if we need to upgrade

What is a good C/C++ compiler for a 64-bit linux system?
I'm thinking of building a new PC and want to put an AMD64 in it. Since
I've already got one windows PC, windows isn't free, and isn't even past
beta in 64-bit, I thought I'd go for a fedora linux box.
But I've no idea what compiler to use - presumably it'd be gcc, but which?
Do I need cygwin or anything if I'm on linux, or does gcc "just work" on
linux because it's its native...

While I can compile the program below under freebsd via a simple:
gcc prog1.c -o prog1
and it runs smoothly, I'm experiencing annoying problems with lcc-win32
under windows xp pro. In fact, under wedit, I can smoothly compile the
program but when I try to execute it it ends with an "abnormal termination"
and a popup complains that:
lcc runtime
Exception 0xc0000005
segment violation

Hi,
I know that it is impossible to browse through
the source code of C library in Linux. But I do not remember
how. In short, I would like to see the implementation
of standard header files such as <string.hetc.
I use Ubuntu. I've even downloaded the linux-headers.
I can see only asm code in /usr/src/linux/include/asm-i386.
Any pointers/help appreciated.

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
