More information is needed. Define 'minor project' in terms of time
available and your experience with C. Ask your lecturer/tutor what
criteria they will be marking on. Soemtimes some quite complex
software can be built in a short time if you used third-party
libraries, etc. If it is your first exposure to C, and you only have
a couple of weeks, then look through some C textbooks and perhaps pull
a project out of one of them, as they usually have problem project
suggestions at the end of the chapters.

However, if you are fairly proficient in C, and have a semester or so
to work on the project, something more substantial will be required.
My project when I was at uni all those years ago was to work closely
with the EE guys and develop software to control an antenna that
tracked LEO satellites based on data from NASA. If this is the case,
you will need to do something substantial and useful, not contrived...

Good Luck,
B.

Are they first year programming students?
What are the prerequisites for the class?
What are the goals of the project?

I suggest that after you answer those questions, it will become more
clear.

Probably, you should have a list of 5-6 projects and let the students
choose the one that appeals to them. Also, if they come up with their
own idea for a project, then let them run with it if it will cover
your requirements.

I am trying to convince a client that dotNet is preferable to an Access project (ADP/ADE). This client currently has a large, pure Access MDB solution with 30+ users, which needs to be upgraded. I believe a dotNet solution is better, but I'm trying to be as convincing as possible -- and maybe I'm wrong! I would appreciate any input or references which could help me.

Here's what I know so far: You have a C++ project. You have source files in it. When you go to compile it, first thing the preprocessor sticks the header files into each source file. So now you have your ".cpp" files all ready, without any "#include" or "#define" in them. Let's assume that there's 2 source files in this project, "a.cpp" and

I have a Visual Studio 6 project that was building correctly. I took a day off of that project to install .NET 03 for another project, then returned to my VS6 project the next day. Without any modifications made to the code, the VS6 project now fails to build. I am seeing the following: error C2653: 'XXXXXX' : is not a class or namespace name

Using Asp.NET 2.0. I published my web application to the server using the publish to website feature of asp.net 2.0. In VS.Net 2005 IDE, on solution explorer, at top level just below solution, I just right-clicked, and selected publish. I gave it the target server location (just mapped a drive from my machine to the server), and checked the MS Build Option - Allow this precompiled site to be updateable. Everything is working fine. ...

My C# code is I18N'ed by appropriately naming and editing .resx files. At execution time, it works. My C++ code is somewhat I18N'ed. When I put UI code in C++ I use .rc files. When I link to a third party's DLLs I get what they supplied. When I link to Microsoft's CRT and MFC, um... Well anyway, at execution time it seems to be working, except when a third party's DLL has a secret dependency. But what about the installer? A Visual...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
