I assume this is a homework assignment otherwise your should be using the C++ Standard Library queue container.

On that assumption, what do you have so far??

Has anyone written a Queue.Queue replacement that avoids busy-waiting? It doesn't matter if it uses os-specific APIs (eg WaitForMultipleObjects). I did some googling around and haven't found anything so far. Because I know someone will ask: no, the busy-waiting hasn't been a problem in my app. I'm just interested in reading the code. p

I have a system in which I have a single thread that places data on a Queue. Then I have one worker thread that waits until data is put on the thread and dequeues the Queue and processes that information. Works just fine. However, I possibly need 1..m worker threads that can act on the same piece of data, i.e. when a dequeue happens on the Queue it can't be removed from the Queue until all threads have used it. I've tried to come up...

I think there's a slight design flaw in the Queue class that makes it hard to avoid nested monitor deadlock. The problem is that the mutex used by the Queue is not easy to change. You can then easily get yourself into the following situation (nested monitor deadlock): Say we have a class that contains a Queue and some other things. The class's internals are protected by a mutex M. Initially the Queue is empty. The only access to the...

Hello everyone i'm working on : " Familiar childhood games such as hide and Go Seek and Tag involve determining the player who is to be "It". One method has the players stand in a circle while one of the players recites some rhyme to count off players, eliminating every nth player, where n depends on the number of the syllables in the counting rhyme. This process stops when only one player, the one to be "It" remains. This process...

Hello everyone, here is my problem. I have to make a dynamic priority queue, which is a heap, and my book isn't helpful at all, so I have no clues on how to create it.. I read something like a static priority queue, which is an array heap, and for example i/2 is the father of i and so on.. the code of the static priority queue is this: int i= ++CurrentSize; while(i != 1 && X > heap) { // cannot put x in heap heap = heap; //move...

You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
