How do I create a splash window?

11 New Member
In BCB I created a splash window as a starting window of my application program. I setup a timer on the splash window so that it can be automatically closed after showing up some times and then my main program form comes up. However, my main program form keeps created in the same time interval as the splash window maintaining. I guess the timer on the splash window is still working because I used the following sentences to create my main window when the splash window is closed:

Application->CreateForm(__c lassid(TMainFor m),&MainForm);
MainForm->WindowState=ws Normal;
MainForm->ShowModal();

Can any body tell me how to avoid this happening? Do I need to destory the splashwindow totally?

Thanks,

Hello, I have a c++ application and I would like to simply play a short video clip (mpg file) as a splash screen when the application first begins to execute. I seem to be having trouble so far. I believe I can use the MCI functions by doing the following: //code starts here// #include "stdafx.h" #pragma comment(lib, "vfw32.lib") HWND m_Player;

I implemented the simplest of splash screens ( static and on its own thread ). But it seem that when first called maybe 8 seconds elapsed before it showed up, the main form follows several seconds later. Naturally recalling the application, the response is adequate I have 10 classes in my project. Some small, none really huge. And another form public class frmQCLoader : System.Windows.Forms.For { private System.Windows.Forms.DataGrid...

Hi , I use formBorderStyle = "None" for the splash window. If I will not open if as a Dialog (frmSplash.ShowDialog) then the form will not be on the front of other windows. >From another side when I use "ShowDialog" code stay "frozen" for the time of Splash is opened. Any idea how to move formBorderStyle = "None" form to the front. I will use frmSplash.Hide at the end of MainForm_Load procedure

I am developing a small utility program that must perform a considerable amount of 'background' or 'research' work before it can display any user interface. In general it can take 3-15 seconds to perform all of the work requured before we display any user interface. So we have determined that the utility should have a splash screen to assure the user that the program is executing and will provide results shortly. I should also note that...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
