I have a named mutex object that is accessed by both an asp.net application
and a Windows executable .net application. The Windows executable runs
under the administrator logon, while the asp.net application runs under the
standard asp.net user account. The problem relates to permissions on
creation of the mutex. If the asp.net application creates the mutex, the
executable cannot access it (access denied error). Likewise, if the...

Hi,
I suspect this is a bug with AMK's Crypto package from
http://www.amk.ca/python/code/crypto , but want to
check to see if I'm being dumb before posting a bug
report.
I'm looking at using this library and to familiarise myself writing
small tests with each of the ciphers. When I hit Crypto.Cipher.ARC4 I've

Hi Folks,
We've been using Crypto ++32 to control licensed access to our widely
distributed Access 2K app. Unfortunately, Sampson Multimedia appears
to be out of business.
Does anyone out there have recommendations for an alternate method of
locking our MDE files to allow only licensed access?
We simply want to allow the user to install the program and get a

I am attempting to implement a process, and I'm pretty sure that a
major roadblock is that I do not understand the nomenclature. The
specs indicate that the goal is to calculate a message digest using an
SHA-256 algorithm. There are 2 examples included with the specs. The
label on the 2 examples are: 'HMAC samples'. In both examples, the
message on which the digest is to be calculated is (the 33 chars within
the quotes):
'This is a...

Hello C
I have a project that requires a calculated "key" to be used in a security
access application. The customer supplies a secret 8 byte number that gets
combined with the serial number of the access card to provide a unique
access key for that card.
They've specified that the encryption method (called "diversification") is
something called Tripple DES. I'm not a crypto weenie, just a software guy.
My research on this has led me...

Hello,
I have a COM+ application built using C# and the MSI for it runs just
dandy, its basically a COM proxy for .NET to ASP. However, when
running a test VBScript, I get the following message whenever I
attempt to execute one of the methods (object seems to get created
though)..
on this line: set objCreditAppEntity =
objComProxy.GetSavedApplication(1, "CITDE")

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
