anyone know any delta compression libraries?

G'day,

I'm trying to tack down any delta compression library that I could licence
for use in a project.

Does anyone know of a decent binary delta compression library?

cheers,

I get 665 hits on <"delta compression" source free OR gnu> on google.

I only looked it up because I thought you might have meant delta
_modulation_, turns out you didn't.

Thanks for that, but we can't use anything thats GNU or got the GPL
attached. We're building commercial software. We're actually looking for a
library to licence.

Does anyone know of any libraries available?

cheers,

Ken

Hello, I wish to find out the restore method for database that have been incrementally backed up and in the scenario where just the delta has been backed up. For example sake, let us assume the following 2 scenarios: (1) Delta Backup of database "delta_db" Full offline backup of database "delta_db" is taken on Dec 15 and then offline delta backup is taken every day till Dec 19. If "delta_db" crashes on Dec 20, what steps do I follow...

As the subject suggests, I'm looking for a compression and encryption component(s) for use with VB.NET. I would rather then be all managed code but will use ActiveX/COM if I have to.. Price is important, the budget is under $400 for both for a single developer license.. Any and all suggestions are welcome! Thanks! -- - Mitchell

What started as a simple test if it is better to load uncompressed data directly from the harddisk or load compressed data and uncompress it (Windows XP SP 2, Pentium4 3.0 GHz system with 3 GByte RAM) seems to show that none of the in Python available compression libraries really works for large sized (i.e. 500 MByte) strings. Test the provided code and see yourself.

Hello, Here is an idea I've been toying with to speed up programs but still keep them portable. It's just a very handwavey rough description right now since I haven't worked out details. The program would contain lots of little utility functions which do small amounts of work. None of these would actually be run. Rather, they would be typecast as strings and those strings would be examined by the program. In otherwords, the...

Hi! I would like to use Compression namespace for Array, i.e. use .NET native Compression for compress a String, or an Array of Integer whose elements are returned values of AscW for each char of the String. I tried with the code available @ http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.io.compression.gzipstream(VS.80).aspx but with no success 'cause I obtained ms.lenght buffer.length. This is my source code for CompressData:

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
