I have read a text file using the command lines = myfile.readlines() and now I want to seach those lines for a particular string. I was hoping there was a way to "find" that string in a similar way as searching simply a simple string. I want to do something like lines.find.('my particular string')

Here's the scenario: You have many hundred gigabytes of data... possible even a terabyte or two. Within this data, you have private, sensitive information (US social security numbers) about your company's clients. Your company has generated its own unique ID numbers to replace the social security numbers. Now, management would like the IT guys to go thru the old data and replace as many SSNs with the new ID numbers as possible. You...

Hello, At first I have to warn you - I'm a newbie so don't shout me down and don't beat me :). I have a few problems concerning programming using VC++ .NET Std 2003 (particularly Windows Forms): 1) I do not know how to take text fram a text file and paste it into a textBox. I can do it like that: ifstream in("teksttt.txt");

I am reading an xml file from a URL. I was originally doing this using the XmlDocument class. But this was very slow. The XmlTextReader is meant to be much quicker for forward only retrieval of data. I need to somehow access a particular list of nodes. e.g. I want to loop through all the nodes called <item></item>. How is this possible using XmlTextReader? I can see that you can get the .Value property of XmlTextReader. But I want to...

Thanks to some good help from a previous post, I have been able to create well formed xml as part of a report logger app. However, I still have a small problem. When I add new xml to the log file, the new nodes are appended to the original file. What I really want is for the log file to grow as "report nodes" are added. Also, I am a bit concerned about performance, particularly as the file grows in size. I must write to an xml file (vs. a...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...
