I'm looking for a good C++ compiler that will work well with The Complete Idiot's Guide to C++.I've tried DEV and Microsoft Visual C++ express. They all come up with "iostream "error. If you can give me a link I will be happy .
Thanks

What are you trying to do when they come up with "iostream error"? This does sound like a problem that is specific to the compiler.....

I just noticed (in DEV at least) if you change the file name to have the extension .cpp instead of .c then it will use a c++ compiler (and the iostream problem should go away)

I would imagine you can also change default values somewhere to make it recognise different extensions.....

I bought the Complete Idiot's Guide to Creating a Web Page to teach myself HTML & website creation but while going through the learning curve want to get a page up and running. So, I also got Webeasy Pro since I sense it'll be a while before I'll be able to do anything sophisticated doing it by hand coding. Anyone here ever encountered snafu's when running a commercial website generated by a program as opposed to hand-coded html? ...

I'm looking for a compiler, I'm running Windows XP. Can anyone suggest a good one that can output assembly and that has all sorts of good optimizations in it, all sorts of bells and whistles. I'm using Dev C++ at the moment, but it has approximately 9999999999999999999999999999999 bugs in it, so if anyone can suggest a decent environment too, I'll be appreciative. -JKop

Hello everyone. I am new to programming and my uncle gave me a copy of "C For Dummies 2nd Edition". I am up to chapter 9 right now. He probably saw me struggling with "The C Programming Language" by Ritchie and Kernigahn and felt bad. Does anyone have experience with this book? I feel that it is helping me along pretty well. But how much will this book teach me? What would be the next book to read?

Hi, Is there any place that i can learn the basics of IL and using ILDASM. I saw the internet but there is not much to see and read. Maybe i didn't search deep enough. I prefer if someone can recommend me some URL than book recommendations if possible. Thanks :) Yeah, i want to know how IL works behind the scene.

Hello, I was VERY blessed with a Christmas gift of visual studio .net from a man I hardly know who had heard of my plans of software developement. So I am probably the only person in the world who actualy has this great IDE and don't even know vb.net (or c sharp etc.). I have some prior exposure to simple scripting language such as javascript and I understand data types etc. (basic programming concepts and procedures) but I don't have any...

I own the 3rd edition of Stroustrup's THE C++ PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE and have read most of it, but I find its style to be more suitable for reference than for tutorial. I still have a lot to learn about template programming and don't have any experience with 3rd party libraries, such as Boost. I'm looking to buy two more books that I'm hoping will help take my C++ programming to the next level. Here are some of my choices: Beyond the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
