My previous example used the concept of a Shape class heirarchy, so I will
continue with that.
Suppose I have something like fifty different shapes, and I am trying to
instantiate one of them. The trick is, the instatiation will be based on a
string with the exact same name as the type that I am trying to instantiate.
Obviously, writing a fifty element long switch statement is an inferior
solution. So, how can I instantiate based on...

Hi guys 'n' girls,
I would like to know if there is an easy way to load a class out of dll at
runtime and create an instance of it. The class which should be loaded has a
base class which is known to the "loader" and all classes which should be
loaded implement a default constructor.
Is there any simple way? I read something about the System.Activator, but I
didn't really understand it and don't even know if it is the correct class to...

Hi,
I have the need to use dynamically loaded user controls in a webform page.
I have the controls loading dynamically, and that part works fine. this is
the code used in a webform to dynamically load one of several controls:
private void btnCategory_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
{
Control myControl = LoadControl(DropDownList1.SelectedItem.Text +
".ascx");
PlaceHolder1.Controls.Add(myControl);

I have a problem with a usercontrol that is dynamically loaded, from a web
control and is not restoring it's viewstate properly.
Here's the scenario. Within our content management system, I have a
webcontrol which allows a admin user to select a usercontrol to include
within a page when in "edit mode".
When a user is editing the page they see a dropdown list of available
controls and select one and save the page, kind of irrelevant to...

I would like to know how you can figure out how much memory a given instance
of a class is using.
For example, if I load a collection class with 10 items it might use 1KB,
and if I load it with 1000 items it might use 100KB.
How do I measure the amount of memory used once the class is loaded?
Thanks!

Hi,
Under what circumstances can I ever get an exception about not being able to
cast type "ABC" to type "ABC" if there's only one ABC class in the system
and it's loaded from a dynamic assembly?
Thanks

Hello,
I have a series of changing string IDs that are loaded dynamically a couple
times a minute. I need to associate each ID with a different static class so
later on in the app's lifecycle it knows which static class to use for
processing.
I've tried:
static class MyStaticObject

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
