Because that is what the standard specifies.

You can create a float constant by sufixing an F (although from you question I guess you may know this).

123.456; // double constant
123.456F; // float constant

OK, maybe this is my opinion, maybe these are bugs. Given the folowing: I have a NotifyIcon on my Form, a Context menu associated with the NotifyIcon, and a MenuItem on the ContextMenu set as default. When the default MenuItem is clicked, there is code to no longer show the NotifyIcon. What I feel should happen is when I double-click the...

Hi, My program (below) casts a double (which is in range for a float) to a float. As far as I know this should give me the nearest representable float, which will loose some precision. I then test for a NAN by comparing my float to itself (is this correct?), and I get different behaviour with different compilers. Have I done something...

Hi, K&R says that "floating point constants contain a decimal point (123.4) or an exponent (1e-2) or both; their type is double; unless suffixed. The suffixes f or F indicate a float constant; l or L indicate a long double." the question is are these constants double by default unless suffixed with f or F ? Thanks in advance.

Is there a way to avoid the default action of TreeNode expansion/contraction caused by double click? I can add an event handler to pop up my properties dialog on double click, but it has the unintended side-effect of toggling the expansion of that subtree. Thanks in advance, Brian

I'm trying to print a Double in straight decimal form, not exponential. I can't seem to accomplish this. This seems like it should be simple enough. The output I'm looking for is "0.00001", not "1E-05". I'm obviously baffled by the NumberFormatInfo class, I can't seem to make it do what I want. And, I've tried the following, all of which...

Hi, I have a C library using "long double" numbers. I would like to be able to keep this precision in Python (even if it's not portable) : for the moment I have to cast the "long double" numbers to "double" numbers. 1st solution . Is it possible that by re-compiling Python, Python Float object becomes "long double" C type instead of...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows.
