why typedef is storeage class specifier

Hi
why "typedef " is storeage class specifier even though it does not
decide storage and lifetime of an variable.
thanks

Syntactic convenience.

Hi all, I was wondering if when I use the typedef command, I can typedef multiple names. EX) typedef struct foo { foo *next; foo *prev; int val;

Hi (first, excuse me for my bad english) As I know, the semantics for typedef is: typedef A B; I think this makes B a synonym of A, where A is an existing data type. Is that right? Based on the previous definition of typedef, I can't understand the next:

This post asks two questions, which I've illustrated in one C source file (see below), which clean compiles on my GNU compiler. 1. In K&R2, Section A8.9 it says "Declarations whose storage class specifier is typedef do not declare object." When I compile and run my sample code, the value "2" is displayed. Clearly the typedef has created the enumerators S1, S2, and S3. This appears to contradict K&R2. 2. The program below was created to...

Hi all, Have alook at two different declarations below: typedef unsigned char uc; typedef void (*fptr) (void); The first declaration has a left part which is a C keyword: "unsigned char" and the declaration is clarly understandable.

I am defining the following typedefs: typedef int* pint; typedef pint* ppint; typedef ppint* pppint; taking the last typedef - "pppint" - would this be referred to as: an alias to type "ppint *" or an alias to type "int ***"

Hi, what is the difference between a "#define" and typedef? A "#define" is handled by the preprocessor and serves as a name substitude whereas "typedef" is a declaration of a new data type based on an exisiting one and handled by a compiler. So, actually both things are equivalent? Or are there any special cases where it makes a difference which specifier is used?

Hi C Ref Man says " The typedef specifier does not reserve storage and is called a storage class specifier only for syntactic convenience " does this mean storage specifier for "user specific storage area" ? ie. flexibity to provided to create user defined storage class specifier.

Hello, I think the syntax of typedef is typedef existing-type new-type However, I've seen a statement typedef string stringarray;

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
