We are using PostgreSQL about two years beginning from version 7.0.
I have one question about starting postmaster:
Is there way to detach it from the controlling terminal under FreeBSD?
My situation: I start postmaster manually:
su pgsql -c "/usr/local/pgsql/bin/pg_ctl
-D /usr/local/pgsql/data -l /usr/local/pgsql/log/pgsql.log start"

I want to be able to control the order error messages appear in the validation summary. They always seem to appear in reverse order ie not in the same order that the validation controls appear on the page.

Is there any way to control the tooltip of a control so that it doesn't
disappear so quickly? I know there are tooltip controls available, but I am
creating controls on the fly, and adding tooltip text to them from a db.
TIA

I'm starting to test a python application that creates an Excel
workbook, then fills in values for some cells and formulas for other
cells. The formulas involve circular references, which will cause Excel
to take a little time to update and iterate through the successive
approximations of finding a solution to the formulas. (The system
should converge pretty well -- no bad behavior expected.)
Since Excel runs as a com server in another...

My client is using a shared server running MySQL 2.4, however the in
house server is 4.1.12 with mysqldump 10.9. Is there a way to have the
10.9 version output a format that is fully compatible with 2.4?
Some of the CREATE TABLE statements in 10.9 are not accepted by 2.4.
Currently, I am not using any of the switches in creating the output
file other than the -u, -h and -p.

We have been noticing that questions on vs.2005/2.0 don't appear to get much
in answers so I'm reposting some questions posted by some of the programmers
here in our organization that never got answered...
In 1.1 we always did our own myDataAdapter.fills and we liked that control
for lots of good reasons. Now the new DataSource (or is it a
TableAdapter:Dataset) automatically fills the Gridview. How can we control
that fill?

I have designed the login form with 3 panels. In the first panel I have the login verification such as login id, password, login button and forgot password link button. In the second panel I have designed the registration details with validation checks by using the validation controls. The third panel will get visible only if the "forgot password?" option is clicked in the first panel.
But the issue is if I click the login button in the...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
