hi all,
i am pretty new to c++. i have this problem for which i am unable to
think a solution. i don't understand how to pass a vector refernce
back to the callin function. And how this reference will be handled by
the calling function ? Can any one in the group point me to the
correct solution for it ? Any code snippets will be of great help.
Thanks in advance.

Folks,
Stroustrup indicates that returning by value can be faster than
returning by reference but gives no details as to the size of the
returned object up to which this holds.
My question is up to which size m would you expect
vector<double> returns_by_value()

I don't understand the difference between ojbect handle and reference.
For example,

Why is it that dvd_ref can ONLY be initialized in the Stack's

To my understanding, std::vector does not use reference counting to avoid
the overhead of copying and initialisation. Where can I get a reference
counted implementation of std::vector? Thanks.

Hi,
I am just learning about the array/pointer duality in C/C++. I couldn't
help wondering, is there a way to pass an array by value? It seems like
the only way to do is to pass it by reference??
Thanks,
BB

Hi,
Please consider the following class (it's not really my class, but it's
a good example for my question):
class Vector {
int myN;
double *myX;
Vector(int n) : myN(n), myX(new double) { }
double &operator()(int i) { return myX; }

Dear Programmers,
I have a class with a pointer to an array. In the destructor, I just
freed this pointer. A problem happens if I define a reference to a
vector of this kind of class. The destruction of the assigned memory
seems to call the class destructor more than once. I don't know the
reason or whether I used the vector class correctly. Attached is my
program. Thanks for your help.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
